The Power Trim Co. got its start in the
early 1950's when Roy Dykes and his son, Jim, began hand forming and welding
gasoline powered lawn edger frames in Compton, California. In those days all
of the operations required to build a frame (i.e. bending, drilling, welding,
painting) were performed in a garage with the end results being sold to local
outdoor power equipment dealers. The popularity of the lawn edger soon took hold
with consumer and commercial customers alike who realized that no job was
complete without that straight blade edged look. Two models were manufactured back then
(the Junior and the Senior) with many of them still being used by their original
owners today.
In the years that followed the Power
Trim name became synonymous with quality and service. Distributors and dealers
were set up in key areas with no mass merchandisers to undercut pricing. In 1965
a new disengaging clutch frame design was introduced creating the ever popular
Model 200. As the need for quality lawn edgers grew, so did the need for a
larger manufacturing facility. In 1972 the company moved to its current
28,000
square foot location
in La Palma, California. Since then they have grown to be the leading supplier of gasoline powered lawn edgers both here and abroad.
With 9 current models to choose from, powered by Briggs and Stratton or Honda
engines, they are sure to have the unit you're looking for. Fifty years of
building edgers, and edgers only, goes into every machine that comes off the
line.
